Moving tips designed to help make your move go as painless as
possible.  Below you will find common mistakes, and good advice to
make sure your move is not a disaster!!!!


2.  Book as early as you can!  Most companies will charge you more for same day or short
notice moves!  While our company does not do that and some others do not, it is important
to book as fast as possible to assure you have the date you need.  This can save you a
major headache trying to flip flop your schedule around, and it can also be the difference
between using the company you want to and the only company available.

3.  Be honest when telling an estimator what is in your house!  9 our of 10 times we hear "I
don't have that much stuff" and they are wrong!!  When trying to get a phone quote having
an accurate idea of what is in the home makes the estimate much more proper.  This can be
the difference between a 2 hour quote and a 6 hour quote!  Remember that over the phone
estimates are just that....an estimate!  

4.  Do not be fooled into believing that a company is going to assure you that your two
bedroom house is going to be moved in less than 3 hours without seeing first hand what is
being moved!  This is a common mistake used by most companies to make you think your
getting a super crew at low low prices!  Remember with most places once you book your job
your stuck unless you want to pay a cancellation fee!  If it feels at all like an underestimate
or too good to be true...then it is probably just that!

5.  If you are going to pack your items to save time and money then it is best to make sure
you have the packing done!  If your not able to complete the packing inform the company
ahead of time so they can be prepared to help you!  A very common mistake that customers
do not realize is that its the boxes that take more time to move and most importantly it is the
loose non packed items that take a long time to move and those items are very open for
damage where most insurance claims will not touch because of improper packing!

6.  Do not have "people" on stand by at your home to "help" the movers in order to save
money!  Most of the time additional people get in the way of the movers.  While they mean
well it can become a over crowded situation quickly!  Keep in mind also that generally once
anyone other than the hired movers begins to unload items and shift things around the
insurance policy become voids and nothing is covered from that point on!

7.  Understand that you have hired professional people that know how to move you!  Often
criticizing their every move will agitate them as they are only human and well no one wants
to hear they do not know how to do their job.  This will slow down the process and could cost
you the move entirely!  Obviously if they are truly doing things basakwards then of course
say something it is after all your stuff, but if you know up front that your the over bearing,
over the shoulder watching, I can do it better than anyone else can type...then perhaps it
would be best to have someone else there to help navigate and keep you calm.  All movers
know that moving is stressful and trusting your property in the hands of strangers is even
worse, but if you researched the company before you hired them then try to trust that they
know what they are doing.

8.  Movers have a bad reputation and that is a sad fact.  In order to avoid confusing, or
heaven forbid the bad mover with sticky fingers take some precaution in not leaving money
around, check books, jewelry, or other small items that could be easily lost or taken.  No I
am not saying all movers are thieves I am simply saying use simple precautions.

9.  Always always always always check the truck back and front when your move is complete
before you pay to make sure that nothing was left behind!

10. Know what types of payment are accepted upfront so there are no surprises in the end!

11. Movers love tips!  Its never a requirement but if they did a great job then showing
appreciation is always welcomed!
